🔒 Retired room · part of our story
Cabin Fever has hung up the key 🔑
(and good old Doris has put the kettle on)
Every escape room company has that one room — the one that started it all. For us, that was Cabin Fever: a rickety little cabin, one very stubborn door, and the one, the only… good old Doris.
For years, thousands of you crammed into Doris’s cabin, went rummaging through her drawers (she noticed, by the way), untangled her gloriously cryptic clues, and either escaped like heroes or got a little too comfortable in there. Some of you still talk about her. Doris talks about you too — usually over the washing-up. 🧽
The old cabin has now creaked shut for the last time. Doris has hung up her pinny, packed her knitting, and retired somewhere warmer — where the puzzles are easy and the tea’s always on. She sends her love. 💛
Why a room retires
People are often surprised that an escape room has a lifespan. They do. A set gets handled by thousands of pairs of hands, props wear out, locks get tired, and puzzles that felt fresh in year one have been written about on every forum going by year five.
There is a better reason though. The space Cabin Fever occupied is finite, and keeping it meant not building something new. We would rather give you a reason to come back than keep a room running out of sentiment. Doris, being sensible, agreed.
What you can play now
She would never forgive us if you left without a game to play, so here is what is escaping right now:
- 28 Pasties Later — a full 90 minutes with a playful zombie streak. Nothing ever touches you.
- Death By Prescription — a poisoning case to unpick. Detective work rather than frights.
- The Lamorna Brown Affair — a Cornish art mystery with no scares whatsoever. The closest in spirit to Doris’s cabin, if that is what you are after.
- The Holiday Heist — seasonal, running November to February.
If you played Cabin Fever
You are exactly who we built the new rooms for. They are longer, sharper and considerably less likely to involve rummaging through an old lady’s underwear drawer — though we make no promises.
The practical details have not changed: 2 to 8 players per room, up to 23 across the rooms at once, from £60 per room — about £20 a head once the room is full — and under-7s play free. Every game is private — only ever your group.
