The challenge has its own page. Venues, the prize draw and the latest news are on the Cornwall Escape Room Challenge page.
For the first time, the three independent escape-room venues in Cornwall have run something together. The Cornwall Escape Room Challenge 2026 is a month-long family challenge across all three, and £1 from every qualifying booking supports Quiet Connections CIC.
Bookings qualify between 17 August and 17 September 2026. If you are reading this before the 17th, there is still time — and the detail below explains why the deadline is less restrictive than it sounds.
The bit most people miss
It is the booking date that decides whether you qualify, not the date you play. You can book on the 16th of September and play in October, November, or whenever actually suits the family. Nobody has to cram a game into the last weekend.
That matters in Cornwall, where half the county is working through the summer and the other half is trying to find a date when everyone is free.
How it works
- Choose your room. Three participating venues across Cornwall, each with its own games.
- Book between 17 August and 17 September 2026. The booking date is what counts.
- £1 per qualifying booking goes to Quiet Connections CIC. The venue contributes it — it is not added to your bill.
- Play whenever suits you. Any subsequently available date.
The prize draw
Every qualifying booking also gets an entry into a draw for a private escape-room experience for up to seven players at a participating venue, subject to that game’s capacity and availability.
There is also a free entry route, so entering the draw never requires a purchase. The full mechanics and eligibility are on the prize draw terms page.
Who Quiet Connections are
Quiet Connections is a Cornwall-based Community Interest Company — a CIC, not a charity. They create opportunities for quieter people, and for people who find social situations difficult, to build confidence at their own pace.
It is a good fit for an escape room, which is one of the few social activities where the quietest person in the group is frequently the one who solves it. We see that happen most weeks.
Where we come in
We are the Penzance venue. Our four rooms are in the basement of the Old Telephone Exchange at 44 New Street:
- 28 Pasties Later — a full 90 minutes with a playful zombie streak. Nothing ever touches you.
- Death By Prescription — a poisoning case to unpick.
- The Lamorna Brown Affair — a Cornish art mystery with no scares whatsoever.
- The Holiday Heist — seasonal, November to February.
2 to 8 players per room, up to 23 across the rooms at once, from £60 per room — about £20 a head when full. Under-7s play free. Every game is private, and we are open 10am to 10pm seven days a week.
Doing it as a family
The challenge is pitched at families, and escape rooms suit that better than most activities because the puzzles reward different kinds of thinking. Teenagers, grandparents and eight-year-olds all contribute to the same room. Our age policy: 16 and over can play alone, 14 to 16 need an adult close by, and under-14s need an adult in the room.
If anyone is nervous, The Lamorna Brown Affair has no scares at all. Ask us and we will be straight with you about which room suits who.
